Global Partner’s Pine Ridge July 13-18th team. We left Gundersen Health System parking lot at 0715 and headed west to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Our team consists of Doctor’s Mike Dolan, Jim Feltes and Mike Kalinosky, Nurses Susan Cieslicki and Teresa Clements, and Med Student Lisa Szela and Pre-PA Student Taylor Olson. We made pit stops along the way, seeing Grenada. No, not the tropical Grenada but the Minnesota Grenada. Nature called and the only gas station in town was closed. Compromise was made. We enjoyed a beautiful lunch across from the Corn Palace. We then made our way to Wall Drug and as you can see, the jackalope caught our attention. We finished off our excursions with a drive through the Badlands nearing sunset. It was absolutely beautiful and surreal. We saw wild goats along the rocks, a prairie dog and rattlesnake. The goats were definitely the favorite of the group. Personally, I want to stay as far away from the rattlesnakes as I can. It was dead but still to close for comfort for me. We reached our destination , Lakota Prairie Ranch about 2030, only to find that we did not have a stove to cook our noodles for spaghetti. Compromise was made and pizzas were ordered. Off to be and now up for a another day of adventure, Electronic Health Record training. Then off to Pine Ridge.
