On Wednesday morning, we drove to Little Wound School to set up our Health Fair projects. My project was on the dangers and effects of smoking. Part of my project included two sets of pigs lungs; the first set was healthy and the second set showed the damages of smoking. The kids were very interested in the lungs and asked a lot of questions regarding smoking. They were surprised at how unhealthy smoking really was and many of them smoked themselves. I think that once they understood that their lungs could go back to being completely healthy if they stopped smoking, they actually thought about quitting. They didn’t believe that the set of lungs that had the smoking damage was real because they had never seen that before. I hope that the kids who do smoke or know someone that smokes will encourage them to quit after hearing my presentation.
