Sunday evening was spent settling into the Lakota Prairie Ranch Motel, no sports channel so we watched a ‘live stream’ of the Badger game on Sandy’s iPad. So exciting to see the Badgers advance! Monday morning we traveled to Pine Ridge Hospital for our EHR security access and orientation. Thank goodness Sandy brought extra pairs of reading glasses with her (since she has a tendency to loose them) so Monica and Steve each borrowed a pair to do their computer training. It gave the IHS a good chuckle to see our ‘teamwork’ helping each other see. On the way to Pine Ridge we stopped at Wounded Knee and heard the history told by a young man who lived nearby. Very special!
On Monday afternoon, we drove 1-1/2 hour to Wanblee Clinic and jumped right into seeing patients. One individual had arrived in the morning when the clinic opened and was patiently waiting for Monica to arrive in the afternoon. A few patients knew Gundersen was coming and asked to be seen by Monica. The week’s schedule looks to be quite full. Lovely to see old friends and receive a warm welcome from all!
