The patients coming to see Monica, our Rheumatology specialist, are both returning patients and new patients. I heard the staff saying they have been reaching out to patients they knew would benefit from a visit with Monica. The patients are so appreciative of time to review their concerns and have questions answered.
Today was a special day of appreciation between ourselves and our Wanblee Clinic colleagues. The clinic staff all contributed to making us Indian tacos for lunch to say thank you for our coming to the clinic. Indian tacos have the familiar taco fixings on top of a large flat piece of frybread. Our desert was a scrumptious cake! Somehow our daily highlights frequently involve food ☺️. We in turn shared our thanks to the clinic staff for their warm welcome and helpful assistance answering our questions.
Steve and I had a chance at the end of the day to visit with the Little Wound school nurse and also went to the Oglala Lakota College historical museum. This is a must see exhibit that provides an audio assisted gallery walk covering the history of the Lakota Oyate (people). Our evening was spent taking a drive and seeing a beautiful sunset. Mind you, Steve has an artist’s eye and fabulous camera (gift from his wife Monica) however, since Steve was our driver, Monica assumed the photographer responsibilities and did a fabulous job!
A special day. Wopila!
