On Tuesday I had the privilege to assist Dr. Manson with children’s check- ups at the Porcupine headstart school. My job was to help weigh and take the children’s height. Some of the kids were extremely cooperative but others got worked up. I loved talking with the children and coloring with them while they were waiting to see Dr. Manson. Some of the children were very shy at first, but then opened up and started to play which was really great to see. The best moment of my day was when two twin girls were playing with the medical equipment; one of the girls even put the blood pressure cuff on Ruth Berns. That made me realize that what we are doing is really affecting children’s lives. I hope that when those two little girls grow up, they get the opportunity to achieve their dreams or even pursue healthcare. This trip so far was awakened me about everything I can do to help and I would really enjoy coming back.
