Today, a team of 5 ( Peg, Althea, Cassie, Lacey and Ruth) assisted Dr. Manson with completing exams on sixty one 1-5 year old enrollees in the Porcupine Headstart. This included toddlers who were bused from the towns of Martin, Allen, Kyle, Mandersen, and Wounded Knee. The Lakota toddlers provided entertainment that only kids can do. Dental carries is the most common health issue detected in the physicals. We learned today that Pine Ridge obtained a grant from “Circle Smiles” which supports free dental restoration care for this age group in Rapid City. The grant also includes education to the kids and parents on dental care and diet.
