Wednesday we went to the TNT building in Wanblee. Elisha and I were in charge of helping elementary kids K-6th grade paint little tiles. The students were suppose to paint something that they think represents compassion. (On Tuesday, some elders spoke with the children in their school about what compassion means to Lakota people.)
I thought it was interesting to see what the students would draw. There were paintings from drawing hearts and rainbos to Michael Myers with a machetti! Dr. Harcey and Mr. Berns helped us with the children. Everyone seemed to enjoy the activity.
This was my second time having the privilege to join the team in Pine Ridge. Both times I have come out here I have loved it more and more. I learn something new every time. This spring trip I loved going with the Gundersen team to the schools for physicals. I learned a lot more about the culture and about the Lakota kids. I had a great timea nd I think everyone who was a part of the trip. Thank you!
