Happy Fourth of July.
Today was a traveling day for the healing camp. As the caravan ( a school bus and several staff and family vehicles) was preparing to load up an eagle flew overhead, a blessing for the healing camp children. We traveled to the hot springs fed plunge.
All members enjoyed several hours of swimming and water slides. A local Pizza Hut was the site for the mid afternoon meal and you can imagine the children with pizza and the favorite pink lemonade. The next destination was the Story Book Islands’s park. The park was opened in 1959, a true project of love for children, by the founder Merel Gundersen. The park is full of play areas representing all manner of children’s stories and fairy tales, Winnie the poo, Wizard of oz, and all versions of Disney stories.
The final destination was a camping site at Bear Butte, where the children of the healing camp will camp and hike as they complete this portion of their healing journey. Following the bittersweet goodbyes, we experienced an amazing sunset and two deer gracefully crossed the highway, promises for a new chapter.
