This week in Pine Ridge has been a wonderful and eye opening experience. I have learned more about the Lakota culture and traditions, and also the Lakota people. Being able to help and listen to these people with all the hardships they have encountered throughout their lives made me feel good that we as the Health Science Academy Team were able to impact their lives in a positive way. I will never forget the wonderful people I have met and what they have taught me about nature and life in general. Also, I will never forget the long car rides with hours of bonding and singing our favorite songs as loud as we could. One thing I will always remember is the Suicide run/walk, because I noticed how strong the Lakota people are and what they have been through, and yet they still have a smile on their face even through the pain and struggle which is incredible to me. I have gained so much respect for the Lakota people and I feel very blessed to have made an effort to help this community. Additionally, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has made this a success, and that I will never forget this trip/experience for the rest of my life.
