We always thought that the definition of retirement was not having to set an alarm clock or not being on a schedule, wrong. As Emily and I are making our first trip to the reservation, we are on a tight schedule. We got started exactly at 0700 from the Onalaska clinic ramp and headed out in two tightly packed vans to South Dakota.
Other than gas stops, our first stop was at Chamberlain to see the Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center. Some interesting facts about South Dakota found during the drive is they are the largest producers of sunflowers and seventh in producing sorgum. Bet you didn’t know that! We missed the correct exit, but did get to see Wall Drug and enjoyed a nice drive through the badlands. It’s 91 degrees and sunny. We were able to get Anne Oakley to sit for a picture with our travel group. Good night for now.
