As many of you know, the internet can be a bit spotty. Jeff and Cindy Reiland are in a room in which the Wifi is only operational for 30 minutes at random times, so I offered to do this one for him. Today, Jeff presented Day 1 of the ACT Parenting training to 14 Head Start folks and two people from IHS. He and Cindy indicated they were a wonderful group of people who had great energy. They were excited to find ways to help parents improve things for their families. They put in a pretty long day today – nine hours of training. We found out a couple of the participants had close to a two-hour drive home!! Talk about dedication!!! Jeff and Cindy are really looking forward to Day 2 and spending more time with this great collection of people they’ve been with.
Peg and I spent another day in the car. Sigh…. But, we did accomplish a LOT today. After helping Jeff and Cindy get set up for the day, we went across the Oglala Lakota College (OLC) parking lot to deliver a scholarship check for the nursing department. They were really excited that we hand delivered it and wanted to take a picture of us with the college president. That was really cool to meet him! I thought to myself “that’s the guy in the video at the Historical Center!”. 🙂
After that, we drove to Wanblee to pick up two women from the clinic and take them down to Pine Ridge to have their mammograms. While in Pine Ridge, we dropped off nursing supplies to the OLC and delivered AED’s to the Justice Center. We saw our good friend Dakota, too! After driving back to Kyle, we joined Jeff and Cindy as they were finishing up their day. Then, off to the restaurant at the LPR for dinner.

Tomorrow is another day of driving. We’ll be heading home after Day 2 of Jeff’s training. We’re hoping to be back home by 2:00 or 3:00 AM. I think I may sleep until Sunday morning. It’s amazing how tired you get by not doing anything but driving all day!! It will be good to get home, but it’s always sad to leave.
