The ride to Pine Ridge was very interesting (although we took many naps and learned new card games on the long drive!) The first cool place we stopped was at a rest stop in Chamberlain with a metal statue of a native American woman holding a star quilt. Our chaperones informed us that this was brand new. Then we stopped at another museum called the Akta Lakota Cultural Museum were we learned more about the Lakota culture. We made a stop in the Badlands and were allowed to venture out on our own. Some people were more adventurous than others. MY favorite part by far was the car ride up. We got to talk to and really get to know the other students that I am staying with.
