Today was a fun and great day. I got the chance to meet two amazing speakers and learned about Lakota culture. I had fun as I learned about the campers at leadership camp. We played some ice breaker games. After the icebreakers, Mr. George challenged us to some team building activities. It was rewarding, as I knew the expected outcome and watched as the others had to figure it out.
When we were finished with camp for the day, we went to Oglala College Museum. I learned a lot about the Lakota history and the events that had happened as the treaties slowly shrank the size of their territory. I felt a lot of emotions when listening to the audio tour. After the visit to the Oglala College Museum, we headed back to camp for dinner.
After we had dinner, we went to Wounded Knee and Singing Horse Trading Post. When we got to Wounded Knee, I saw a board that shared the events that happened at Wounded Knee. Then we went to see the cemetery I felt a deep sadness. When we finished we went to visit the Singing Horse Trading Post. I went inside the building and saw many beautiful handmade dream catchers, bracelets and fine pieces of art. It was really pretty and nice. Today I had fun and learned a lot through the leadership activities and look forward to tomorrow.
