Following a day of leadership camp, supper, and a youth Rodeo, we went on a mini road trip out to the Badlands in search of buffalo and other wild game. I had the amazing pleasure of riding with Tour Guide Tom. After numerous jam sessions singing to the KILI radio station, we were successful and had many buffalo sightings and saw a lot of other wildlife, including some bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, and a wild Nahmie Bear!
After a very close encounter with two sparring male buffalo, we went and trekked some of the peaks of the Badlands. I hiked mainly with Emily, Peyton, and Cheyenne I also talked a lot with numerous others in my class as well. After getting myself and my friends into no tight spots (you’re welcome mom), we reluctantly returned to the vans, but not before I got a piggyback ride from Peyton. All in all we had a great day with our new Lakota friends and enjoyed the beautiful sunset and scenery.
